This week in class, we talked about UX trends. Today’s class began with a small task, which consisted of writing down key areas within UX that I thought would fall under the trends. For me, I had to think off the top of my head and ended up with four points;
Following this, the lecturer would go on to discuss the importance and effect of many different UX trends that are used or might be used within the design industry. What was the most notable and popular groups of UX trends that were talked about were, AI generated and Accessibility.
With AI, it made a lot of sense considering it’s brand new emergence within any industry but is also the scariest. AI has it’s limitations but it also evolves and improves incredibly fast. AI generated content is everywhere, like research, imagery, videos and even creating websites entirely from scratch.
As for accessibility, to me it’s a very popular discussion within the designer community, as well as the importance and effects it has on users. The issue that lies here is that although it’s always heavily considered and talked about, it’s very rarely put into place and even if it were it never seems to be executed very well. In my opinion, I feel like as a current trend, accessibility doesn’t fall into this bracket, but rather may become a much more integrated and popular trend in the future, more so sooner than later.
For the next part and the rest of today’s class, the lecturer thought it would be best for us to make a start on our next project, UX trend report. Our task is to identify what I believe to be the key trends in UX Design. I was recommended and welcome to use an ai tool called MUDG that was demonstrated in class. as well as using my own resources to find out more in each area.
My task is to find about 3 trends that I think are the most notable. Because it starts during class I have the option to work in pairs /groups for discussion.
Making a start on todays project, I decided to take a look at the links that were provided to the class via Black Board, looking through a website called, STUDIO by UXPin. I did decide to go through the other links also to try and find anything that could be useful, however not many were as good as my selected one.
The three trends I thought it would be the most popular and best to cover were;
