This week in class, felt very short in comparison to the previous classes, not to say it wasn’t busy. The first part of the class was a group based exercise. The purpose of this exercise was to help visualise and come up with not just the function of our future app but the purpose.
I was sorted into a team five. My team consisted of, Aoife, Declan and myself of course. As a team we were tasked with choosing one or more SDG’s or use one of our one, put a bit of research into that or those SDG’s, figure a way UI/UX can help improve an area within those SDG’s and then create a story board based on that idea.
Begging our research phase, the three of us decided to start from scratch instead of using one of our ideas as it wouldn’t seem fair to the others. When taking a look through the SDG website to choose which one to talk about, we thought it would be a good idea to combine two different yet similar ones, 13 Climate Action and 14 Life Below Land.
We thought combining these two would be a great idea as it doesn’t limit our ideation to just one SDG, helping us expand more. We also thought that these two were a really good combination for story telling. Our next step was deciding what our app should do and how to create a suitable story that best represents it.
We decided to dive right into Notion which has all the assets to use for our story boards. When coming up with a story the three of us discussed that because we went with climate action, global warming would be a good example to talk about, particularly abnormal weather change, using Ireland’s as an example.
For the purpose of my blog, I thought it would be a good idea to break down what my story board is going to be based about.

Personally, I really liked how this all turned out it was really helpful and communicated our idea pretty well. I hope to use this in the future, especially for my SDG project as I feel like this will be one of the more challenging projects within my course so far.
