What I learned this week (05/12/2025)

This week in class, the importance and abouts of what intellectual property was covered, the best form of information that was forwarded on where to find information about it would be on the .gov website, which is handy enough to know for future reference.

An interesting area of todays class was knowing what falls under intellectual property. A lot of it was fairly common knowledge like, products, designs, drawings, images, etc. Of course until that item of ownership is sold to the client.

If I own the right of an intellectual property I have the right to use, alter and profit from it , I also have the right to license my work to others at my discretion. I really liked knowing this piece of information, it gives me validation of how and what way I should or could use any piece of work I created.

Work for hire

Any designs created under an employee contract will automatically become the employers intellectual property. A great example would be the likes of comic books, taking full advantage of designs, such as character creations that would be hired, designed the character, owned by the company and followed up by making games, movies, etc.

Intellectual Property Labels

It was interesting to know what would be best to help protect myself when it comes to copyright claims. This would be to have proof to have been substantially worked on the work as well as having the earliest claim

NDA

A non disclosure agreement, is a form of document that can be obtained through the .gov website. The purpose of this agreement is to create confidentiality between parties. It is to protect secrets that aren’t part of public domain. However, if the owner already has disclosed it, the users are no longer bound to keep it secret and can freely disclose themselves.
