This week I learned about the future of development and design with new technologies and how they have made their impact on jobs within design. I learned about the already existing features of design within everyday items such as phones and laptops but also HUD’s/ UI in video games, UI design in movies and even future concept technologies that could be developed.
I learned a good but about how much input design has on future technologies. For example, the development of the original Samsung Galaxy Samband It was extremely interesting to see how much thinking went into that design to what we ended up with now.

It was also interesting to see what future digital design could have looked like within movies. In class we looked at a couple of different examples all with their very own unique designs and styles yet, still being distinguishable as user interfaces .
I was sort of intrigued from how different people approached UI design in movies and upon my research into future technologies one movie came to mind, Interstellar.
Chris was one of the lead designers on the set for Interstellar. Along with Coplin Bleu and Sal Palacios. He didn’t want to go too high tech/futuristic. Although the movie takes place in the future, almost all technology is abandoned or repurposed to focus is on agriculture and farming. They were limited on resources and whats left due to the movie explaining the lack and use of technology. Chris and his team would the. go on to design all the console graphics for the Lander, Ranger, and the Endurance.

Within todays world I have learned that technology is evolving at such a rapid pace even so that robots similar from the movie “I Robot” are becoming more real under the company ‘Tesla’ run by Elon Musk. With this, AI is also evolving, being able to create digital drawings (all be not very well at this moment). However, I have no doubt that this will of course continue to refine itself and eventually take over certain jobs and industries in the future. However, it still takes designers to create a design especially if it intends to be suitable for human users.
