This week I learned about the birth, evolution and the take over of computer systems, and their influence over the art and design sector. To begin I learned that what is known now as the World Wide Web was developed in three different stages. Web 1.0, Web 2.0, and Web 3.0.
Web 1.0
To begin, I first wanted to talk about Web 1.0. It first emerged from around 1991 to 2004, I also learned that in stage it was were known as ‘ the static web’. What this means is that it was extremely limited. Having features such as little to no interaction from users and provided only usually text and a few images. To sum it up websites in this era were very plain and a mess to navigate through. An example here shows a screenshot from what amazon would have looked like during this stage, creating a pretty chaotic layout and hierarchy of the page with just endless amounts of links.

Web 2.0
To simply put, web 2.0 was a major refinement operation to its previous iteration, improving the user experience and navigation for first timers within the web. This version was to make everything very user friendly and accessible such as creating ‘tags’ for pages for people to find sites easier. User generated content, meaning anyone had to ability to create and post their own websites for others to view. Like buttons/ feedback boxes were added to certain sites for users to explain the experience they had navigating their sites.

Web 3.0
When talking about each step of evolution of the Web through the years. Web 3.0 has if not is the most significant step towards ‘sci-fi’ type of feeling to it. Becoming more modernised and extremely futuristic with new features no one has ever seen or possibly even considered. Features of this version would have included “Decentralisation” meaning, a lot of work was very collaborative and is usually stored on a cloud server most of the time. Web 3.0 would also introduce 3D design/ modelling for newer developers such as video games and architecture blue prints. However, one of the biggest steps towards the future through Web 3.0 was the introduction of A.I. (Artificial Intelligence).
