Finishing this content design based project was incredibly satisfying, more so with how things started and it’s comparison to how it ended. There was so much aspects and areas of content design to absorb and understand with a lot more learning a long the way.
There wasn’t so much of struggles I experienced with any of the projects, but more making my mind up on any ideas or decisions that came to mind. More so when it came to the SDG project, I feel that, between the three that this was the project I struggled the most with. With so many different options to choose from, different ideas, specific guidelines. I feel like I made my idea for this a bit too ambitious, especially in terms for the amount of content I planned on including, within the timeline I had.
I think one of the biggest impacts, or negatives I experienced through this project, doesn’t really have anything to do with the project, but more with placement/ company talks. It was really interesting to see and know how each company operates, but a lot of it was just the same thing in a different appearance. Especially when it came to work interviews, suggestions, and a huge majority of companies that came in weren’t taking placement students at all. Which to me sort of just felt like a waste of time and interruption to lecturers and work time even.
Aside from this, there were a lot of positives through content design, even by week 1, like getting to work on new dimensions for developing an app for a smart watch. Another area I really enjoyed was the Ideation of all projects, I was really proud of myself for coming with somewhat pretty realistic but good ideas for each project development.
Finally, the last area I feel like made me end on a positive note for this project, was the heuristic evaluation, it was definitely the easiest of the three but I also learned just as much from it. I found it incredibly interesting to just go out of my and find problems. I also found it really fun to then rate the problem on a scale, as well as providing visual suggestions on fixing those issues.
In conclusion, overall, this was a pretty informative module, there was so much information and aspects to learn and I feel that it could go on for so much more, but most of it can be learnt through experience, despite that, going through this module was a lot of fun, as well as educational. I feel that a lot of not just what I’ve learnt but designed, I do plan on keeping tabs on the features of each design I came up with that I feel might benefit me in future designs.
