Following the completion of this project, under the title of branding, in short I really enjoyed how everything turned out as well as enjoyed everything that led up to this point. To begin, when this was revealed, I had a slight advantage ahead of others due to not just experience with branding and identity within my previous Belfast Met course but also rebranding a banking app.
Straight away, the thing I found fun the most was coming up with my banks name and its relations. I found it easy coming up with this stuff, as when it was talked about to make sure we have some sort of meaning/ link with our names I was already thinking about linking my bank to a god of wealth. The reason for this is I thought it wouldn't just be easy to link but it would give me hundreds of options and potential designs to look at and work from. Eventually leading me to gods of Greece, mostly due to me looking at bank logos or icons always resembling a building that would be found in Greece.
Following this, I was able to basically fly though the rest of my brand aspects and development during this project. However, that does not mean I had struggles of my own. I think the areas I had struggled with the most was finding the correct logo/ word mark for my name ‘Pluto’. I did a good bit of research with similar competitors, all of which had some form of crescent shape which isn't what I originally wanted in my logo as it seemed too, basic. I didn't cut it out and played around with the shape, and was able to include it as the ‘O’ in my name. Aside from this struggling development, I was really happy with how it turned out and I genuinely had fun when flicking through my several ideas, with the result being worth it, as not only did it make the logo look good but it can be modular and it also has its links to Greece, Banks and space.
There were a lot of positives I enjoyed through my time with this project, I did feel it began a bit slow then sped up really fast towards the end, particularly with the introduction of both the brand guidelines and landing page. I would have preferred if these pieces of content were introduced at the beginning of the project and regularly asked about through out the rest of the year, as I found myself not really focussed on them unless they were brought up a couple of weeks later.
Finally, one of the most useful and impactful aspects of branding was the heavy use of Figma as well as the introduction to more advanced features such as the use of components and variants. These features at first were pretty difficult to understand and use, but I was able to get used to them quite fast. I really found them fun and I was incredibly proud if they worked the way I wanted, although I did find them pretty frustrating if they weren't going the way I wanted.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed this project it was a good mix and change up from the previous projects of the last semester. This was a lot more difficult but that was to be expected. As for my final outcomes and development I'm extremely proud a the progress and understanding I made along the way, through to the end. I believe it was a pretty successful project, held to a pretty decent standard.
