Data/ Communication

There were many themes in terms of looking into for this project, ranging for healthcare, foundational needs, digital exclusion, social and what I was landed with, Data/ Communication.

Data and Communication is an incredibly important aspect across any area, and can easily become effected when an offender is entering or leaving prison, especially with longer sentences.


Diving in to research, which for me is going to play a pretty heavy part of this project, I first began to look at the different types of support and community agencies any offenders can receive support from.

After going through each support system one by one, with the help of the small and brief description about each agency. This would bring me to these five:

Realistically, just about every agency here can help in terms of data and communication. However, the five highlighted usually express the addition of 1-1, mentors or support in any factor. Knowing this, it plays a pretty big part for offenders when trying to get into old contacts or build new ones.


Another interesting resource I looked at was part of a booklet provided by the agency, Start360. Based on offering advice for offenders that are going to be released or are recently released and their transition back into the communities.
