My chosen Idea for this project, was to implement a sort of moving floor, that uses preset/ customisable layouts, created by the user. For example, the user would use a device that features the floor plan of their room/ house, with appropriately labelled furniture. The user well then have the ability to drag any piece of furniture around on the device to a new location, and when locked in, the furniture in real life would move to that set position, with the help of the implement ‘Gyro (styled) Floor’.

The purpose of this idea, is to help any individual that may struggle with manual handling, such as elder, or injury persons. Reduce the need for manual handling which can in turn reduce the possible impact of damaging furniture or injuring the user themselves.

The image below, was a quick sketch of an example house on what software could be implemented for this product to function. I designed this floor plan during a class task, with the house being based of a simple cargo style house, eco-friendly, and featuring only the ground floor.

Lofi Digital concepts

I then took the previous drawing concept and refined it into a lo-fi digital concept of the floor plan. I also decided to key the features of the house, particularly the ‘gryo floor’. I feel like further refining the concept into a lo-fi digital version was so much more helpful and far easier to understand, when explaining how my idea works.

I decided to key the floor tile, as well as the digital operation feature within the house, to provide context on where each feature can be found, as well of course explaining what they are.

Figma Make

My next step in development was finding out a way to bring this concept to life, in terms of try to show what it would look like if it were real. To try and not get a head of my self, I thought the best thing I could do to show off the concept was to prototype what a dashboard a user would use to function the concept.

To achieve this next step, similar to one of my previous classes, I decided to jump over to Figma Make, and try to be a bit more precise with the prompts of the concept. Also to have more use of the application myself since I’ve never used it before.

With this in mind, I decided to include as much details as possible with as many features as I could come up with to also take part within the concept development.

Below is my starting prompt for Figma make:

Make me a digital dashboard, for a basic iPad layout, with the purpose to provide the user with select options of room within a basic house. Once clicked on any room, it will then open a new window that the user can then select one of 5 room furniture layouts. Each page will be provided with an appropriate floor plan layout that will change appropriately corresponding to whichever button is selected. Finally, I want one separate page for each room page, with the purpose of allowing the user to pick and place any piece of furniture for each room layout.

I also provided the responses from the AI of Figma Make, going from image left to right, it explains each action, design and function choice it plans to include within the mockup, as well as explaining how each feature within the mockup works.
