Choosing the name for my app was pretty fast in my opinion, not to say I didn’t make considerations, but I looked into the meanings for my name and wanted it to be aimed at either change, safety or anything along the lines of health terms.
Looking into other competitor names, a lot of them have to do with feathers like flo, flowers like bloom or can even be plain business type names like SECCA. Knowing this, I wanted mines to be a little more friendly with a priority of it being easy to pronounce for younger end of my audience, as well as memorable.
Eventually I came up with 5 different names I liked the most;
Bloom
Prosper
Growth
Pulse
Nova
Flourish
When it came down to choosing which name I thought was going to be the most suitable for my app, to me it was a no brainer. A lot of the names I thought off where too blunt/ obvious, as I might as well as just had ‘Change’ for the name. Too Boring.
I ended up going with the name ‘Nova’. The reason for this is, it matches all the criteria I was looking for in a name, it’s easy to pronounce, it’s memorable, and it has meaning, which is change.
My next step in developing the name ‘Nova’ was choosing the most suitable font choice in comparison to it’s name. I decided to sketch out the name in different font types, that I would later use as a reference when looking through google fonts.
When it came down to it I really liked the idea of a curve style sort of font, ones that looks calm, friendly with a bit of fun.
