Getting Started

Straight away, there is a lot to work with when it comes to developing my digital portfolio, I feel like before getting started. There are things that should be broke down, mainly to avoid getting overwhelmed from nothing.

I have a lot of content that can be added, which covers a variety of different themes and elements such as, Branding, UI/UX, Typography, even having the ability to show my progress. For me the hardest part about this development is choosing what content best represents me, my work and my brand.

Aside from this, I also had to choose what platform I’m going to use to make my portfolio in. As much as I think coding it entirely myself would be fantastic, coding is not really my area of expertise nor do I feel I have the time for that. My other choices was more design placement led. These choices were;

Between these four, I really want to give it another go with Framer. My reason for this is, just how little I experienced it during last year, as well as its close partnership with Figma.

Choosing Framer, I know right from the get go that it will be a difficult challenge, and least to say I still wont be a pro by the end of it. That said, I still am willing to give it a go and hope I can make something successfully, as well as improving and developing new skills with it.

Research

Daniella Marynova

Getting started within my research, I wanted to focus my time into looking at how other people designed their websites, especially through the use of Framer. Simply typing in to google, ‘Framer Portfolio Examples’, I came across Product Designer, Daniella Marynova.

What i find really interesting about their website, aside from it being in Framer is it’s simplicity. I really like the mix of font choices from hand drawing to san-serif, as it really show her personality right there. The only issue i had was the use of big flowers on the screen, as I feel like they make the page seem too ‘Claustrophobic’.

Another thing I really like about her website is how she has her example projects shown. At first it shows a single image of one of her projects, more like a thumbnail. When the mouse enters a little animation plays, changing the image to display a small amount of information about the project.
